Meet the Artist: Terri Raines

Terri Raines is a self-taught artist whose practice is rooted in instinct, intuition, and the quiet courage it takes to begin again. With over twenty-five years of creative play, she has built a body of work guided by a transformative truth, passed down from a mentor: you cannot be afraid to cover up what you like to make space for what you love.

Working in layers of acrylic, ink, and other mixed media Terri leans into the process — allowing color to lead, forms to emerge, and meaning to surface from within the layers. Her compositions are not planned so much as revealed, each piece a record of emotion, improvisation, and trust. Vibrant, restless, and deeply felt, her work celebrates the beauty that lives in unpredictability.

Terri makes her home on Virginia's Northern Neck with her partner Robert and their two dogs, Jayda and Pickles.
